Our diagrams and graphs are accurate and informative. We prove we're trustworthy and reliable by sweating the small stuff. Every line and color choice in our technical illustrations should feel considered.
Iconography
Icons are the visual throughline from product to brand. Octicons, our open source icon library, is one of our most essential and stable brand elements. It's included in Primer, with icons meant to primarily serve GitHub's needs across product.
Illustration
We have three styles of illustration which help us modulate loudness across our brand surfaces: key art, contribution graph, and textures.
Layouts
Our layout style is dependent on strict adherence to a grid. Applying the grid logic in the right way will create a technical and consistent feel between assets.
Mascots
Mona, Copilot and Ducky bring the fun. GitHub has a few mascots. More than mascots, these three represent the developer experience and are and well known by Github fans.
Product UI
Product UI is our best way to show the product in marketing contexts. It embodies both the function of the product features and extends our brand attributes. Before rendering a stylized UI, it's critical to understand your story so that you can identify a primary focal point and reduce unnecessary noise.
Textures
This straightforward and simple approach to illustration takes our contribution graph, found on every developer's profile page, and turns it into a playground for creative expression.
