What motivates you to work towards accelerating the textile industry’s journey towards net-zero emissions in a just way?

It’s the biggest challenge of our lifetime and I want to make my utmost to contribute, especially knowing that philanthropy will play an important role in this journey.

Clara Brook

What inspires you in your day-to-day work?

It’s a privilege to be able to work with colleagues with such high ambitions that change is possible. Every day I get energised by working with them, our partners and network, where everyone shares the mission that they want better and fairer solutions for people and planet.

Innovation, Research & Demonstration

Christiane Dolva

What has been the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your work?

That none of this work can be done alone. Not one single individual, company or organisation can tackle a large scale transformation on their own. So even if the word collaboration is often used to the extent it might sound like a cliché, it is still the most valuable lesson I have learned – that collaboration is key!

Annie Lindmark

What is one key value that guides you in your professional life?

Curiosity! Always looking for new ways to learn and develop as a person and a leader, and to continuously stay ahead and understand that what is happening today can affect our tomorrow.

Beatrice Oldenburg

What motivates you to work towards accelerating the textile industry’s journey towards net-zero emissions in a just way?

That what I do at the H&M Foundation actually matters. When working so closely to the people’ and initiatives that we support, I can really see that the work my colleagues and I put in contributes towards this journey.

Sasha Thomas

What inspires you in your day-to-day work?

The people in and around the beginning and middle of the value chain are often overlooked, with their needs coming secondary to those of us at the end of the value chain (consumers). The ability to change that narrative in any way I can is what inspires me in my day-to-day work.

Sophia Halliday

What inspires you in your day-to-day work?

On a daily basis, our great colleagues and partners inspire me through their intrinsic motivation to drive positive change.

Collective Action & Disaster Management

Fernanda Drumond

What has been the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your work?

Decarbonisation alone won’t do it. Only changing the energy system into renewables won’t do it. The food and land system also needs a turnaround. Gender equality, reduced inequalities and the end of poverty are also necessary to transform the world. We won’t accomplish much if we solve only one of these challenges, we need to solve them all. People and planet must always come together.

Maria Bystedt

What motivates you to work towards accelerating the textile industry’s journey towards net-zero emissions in a just way?

Our unique role as a connector – bridging the gap between industry stakeholders and the often-invisible primary actors within complex value chains. With our experience and network, we can enable the co-creation between actors who wouldn’t usually collaborate and help drive a just transition to fairer, more sustainable business practices across the industry.

Charlotte Brunnström

What is one key value that guides you in your professional life?

Cultivating equanimity: this helps me navigate my way through life, with all its unpredictability, without losing my balance. It basically means keeping a cool head and a warm heart in challenging times.

Carola Tembe

What motivates you to work towards accelerating the textile industry’s journey towards net-zero emissions in a just way?

I am motivated by the substantial impact a sustainable and equitable textile industry can have on the planet and on the marginalised communities, who are often most affected by environmental degradation and economic shifts.

Jodit Tesfai

What has been the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your work?

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of listening and building relationships. By truly understanding the needs and challenges of stakeholders across the entire textile value chain—from workers to brand owners—we can develop more inclusive and impactful solutions.

Kristina Svartling

What inspires you in your day-to-day work?

Working in disaster relief, I frequently encounter people in need. The human connections and the stories I hear from affected individuals and communities can be powerful sources of inspiration, reminding me of the strength and resilience of people.

Diana Puentes

How do you define success in your role?

When the work empowers others, creates measurable impact, and stakeholders feel heard and supported.

The incredible people we meet from all over the world who dedicate their time to developing just and fair climate solutions for the textile industry. The saying, “The future is created by optimists,” couldn’t be more true.

Karolina Fabó

What is one key value that guides you in your professional life?

There’s a Swedish expression that is to “snälltolka”, which means to “interpret kindly”. It makes you humble and open-minded, something I think we need more of in this world.

Linda Hilmgård

What is one key value that guides you in your professional life?

Ikigai – look for the intersection of what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. Stay curious and make sure that what you do resonates with your heart or choose to do something else.

Jasmina Ilić

Elin Hallerby

The people and partners I work with. Their passion, dedication, and innovative thinking to drive meaningful change in the textile industry make our journey even more rewarding and impactful.

Nathalie Grumme

What motivates you to work towards accelerating the textile industry’s journey towards net-zero emissions in a just way?

I believe there is something magical at the intersection of innovation, sustainability, and communication. Working with the GCA means being surrounded by creative and driven minds, people who push boundaries and strive for true change. Telling the stories of ideas that have the potential to ultimately transform the industry inspires me every day.

Pär Höglund

How do you define success in your role?

In these busy times, if people remember your brand through a story or an image that inspires hope, it’s the greatest success and proof that good strategy and great creativity can catalyse change.

Indira Furniss

How do you define success in your role?

Success is when an event we produce or participate in doesn’t just end when people leave the room but sparks new ideas and commitments to carry forward.
