Manage your Google AI plan from Gemini Apps

You can upgrade to a Google AI plan for higher limits and priority access to some features in Gemini Apps.

Important:

  • This article is for users managing Gemini Apps for a personal Google Account. If you’re using a work or school Google Account, learn more about using Gemini Apps with a work or school account.
  • To use Gemini Apps with a Google AI plan in most countries, you must be 13 (or the applicable age in your country) or over.
    • To use Gemini Apps with a Google AI plan in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom, you must be 18 years of age or older.
    • Some features may not be available for users under the age of 18 or 13 (or the applicable age in your country). In the help center, you will find additional information about age requirements.

Upgrade to a Google AI plan in Gemini Apps

Important: Some Google AI plans are only available in certain countries. Learn more about plans and availability.

You can subscribe to a Google AI plan through Google One.

Upgrade to a Google AI plan (without a current plan)

In the Gemini mobile app
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gemini app .
  2. At the top, tap your Profile picture or Initial and then View subscriptions.
  3. Select the Google AI plan you want.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions. 
    • If you already have a Google One subscription, the app you originally subscribed to Google One from will open to complete the upgrade. On the payment screen, the other app will be listed.
In the Gemini web app
  1. Go to gemini.google.com.
  2. At the top, tap Menu .
  3. At the bottom, tap Settings & help  and then View Subscriptions.
  4. Select the Google AI plan you want.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Tip: When you subscribe to the plan, you’ll need to select or provide a form of payment. Learn how to manage your Google payment info.

Upgrade your Google AI plan (from a current plan)

In the Gemini mobile app
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gemini mobile app .
  2. At the top, tap your Profile picture or initial and then Settings  .
  3. Tap the available upgrade option.
    • If you have Google AI Plus, tap Upgrade to Google AI Pro.
    • If you have Google AI Pro, tap Upgrade to Google AI Ultra.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
    • If you already have a Google One subscription, the app you originally subscribed to Google One from will open to complete the upgrade. On the payment screen, the other app will be listed.
In the Gemini web app
  1. Go to gemini.google.com.
  2. At the top, tap Menu .
  3. At the bottom, tap Settings & help .
  4. Tap the available upgrade option.
    • If you have Google AI Plus, tap Upgrade to Google AI Pro.
    • If you have Google AI Pro, tap Upgrade to Google AI Ultra.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Troubleshoot issues upgrading

If you're brought to Apple settings

If you no longer have the app you subscribed to Google One through, you’ll be brought to your subscriptions in Apple settings. To upgrade in Apple settings:

  1. Select the app you used to subscribe to Google One.
  2. Tap See All Plans.
  3. Select the Google AI plan that you want.
If you’re brought to instructions to upgrade through Google One

If you subscribed to Google One through the web or on an Android device, you may not be able to upgrade on your iPhone or iPad. Follow the instructions to upgrade on the Gemini web app.

I upgraded to a Google AI plan, but it doesn’t show in the Gemini mobile app

If the Google AI plan that you upgraded to doesn’t show in your Gemini mobile app, restart the app.

I still see Gemini Advanced in the mobile app and can’t find Google AI plans

To use a Google AI plan in the Gemini mobile app, you need to have the latest version of the app. 

  • On an Android device, ensure that your Google App is upgraded to the latest version (16.18 or above)
  • On an iPhone or iPad, ensure that your Gemini App is upgraded to the latest version (1.2025.187003 or above)

Choose the model you want to use

Important: To switch between models in Gemini Apps, you must be signed in. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps.

How to switch between Gemini models

To switch between models:

  1. Open the Gemini mobile app or go to gemini.google.com.
  2. At the bottom, inside the text box, tap the model name.
  3. Select the model you want to use.
Tip: If you want to use a specific model, select it in the text box at the bottom.

The Gemini 3 family of models, including 3 Flash and 3.1 Pro, helps power Gemini Apps. The model options available in Gemini Apps are:

  • Fast: A powerful and efficient workhorse model designed for speed. It's ideal for everyday tasks like summarization and brainstorming.
  • Thinking: A faster thinking model that balances speed and reasoning to quickly solve complex problems.
  • Pro: An advanced model that excels at complex math and coding prompts with 3.1 Pro performance and reasoning. Pro has a deeper understanding across text, files, images and videos, plus major upgrades for coding and studying.

Tip: Thinking and Pro have usage limits that increase with Google AI subscription plans.

 
 
 

Change your plan

In the Gemini web app

You can change your Google One plan if you don’t want the AI subscription.

  1. Go to gemini.google.com.
  2. At the bottom, tap Settings & help and then Manage subscription.
    • This opens Google One settings where you can select a different plan.
  3. Tap Change membership plan.
  4. Under "Downgrade options," select a plan.
    • Confirm the new plan price and details.
  5. Tap Next.
  6. Select your payment method.
  7. Tap Subscribe.

In the Gemini mobile app
  1. On your iPhone, open the Gemini mobile app .
  2. At the top, tap your Profile picture or Initial and then Settings and then Manage subscription and then Manage subscription.
    • If you subscribed to Google One from a different app, this opens your subscriptions in Apple settings. Select the app you used to subscribe to Google One.
  3. Tap See All Plans.
  4. Select the plan you want.

Cancel your plan

You can cancel your plan in Google One settings.

In the Gemini web app

  1. Go to gemini.google.com.
  2. At the top, tap Menu and then Settings & help and then Manage subscription. This opens Google One settings, where you can cancel your plan.
  3. Tap Cancel membership and then Cancel.

What happens when you cancel your plan

When your AI Pro plan ends, you’ll no longer have access to:

  • Gemini app in Pro. You won’t be able to:
    • Start new chats with Pro
    • Continue chats created with Pro
    • Use features that are only available on Pro
  • These benefits from Google One:
    • Expanded storage across Drive, Gmail, and Photos
    • Direct support from Google experts
    • Exclusive member benefits
  • Gemini in Gmail, Docs, and more

When your AI Ultra plan ends, you’ll no longer have access to:

  • Gemini in Ultra. You won’t be able to:
    • Start new chats with Ultra
    • Continue chats created with Ultra
    • Use features that are only available on Ultra
  • These benefits from Google One:
    • Expanded storage across Drive, Gmail, and Photos
    • Direct support from Google experts
    • Exclusive member benefits
  • Gemini in Gmail, Docs, and more
