Urban Sensor Data Streams: London 2013
Abstract
Data integration can transform services in cities. Exploiting the sensor data streams resulting from pervasive networked embedded sensing systems can support this transformation. The authors review the urban sensing landscape across multiple services and sectors. They focus their review on the city of London, which many regard as one of the most technologically advanced and digitized cities in the world. They catalog the technological, spatiotemporal, and representational characteristics of the city's open real-world sensor data streams, and how they came to existence.
