ADB supports Pakistan’s inclusive, sustainable, and climate-resilient development through investments in the country’s economic management, energy, food security, institutional capacities, private sector, public finance, social services, transportation, and urban services.
Demonstrating ADB’s rapid response capability, Mr. Kanda announced that ADB will provide, upon request of the Government of Pakistan, a $3 million grant from the Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund to support emergency relief efforts.
ADB has approved a loan of $350 million to support access to finance for women in Pakistan. The funding will support the second phase of the Women-Inclusive Finance Sector Development Program.
Over a billion people in developing Asia are unbanked, including a significant number in Pakistan, where only 21% of adults have access to a bank account or mobile money provider.

ADB continues to support Pakistan’s economic recovery by strengthening public finance, social protection systems; helping with post-flood reconstruction; improving food security, social and human capital, urban services, and transport and energy infrastructure; and boosting climate action. ADB operations remain aligned with Pakistan’s evolving economic and development priorities.
To date, ADB has committed 764 public sector loans, grants, and technical assistance totaling $43.4 billion to Pakistan.

The Pakistan Resident Mission was opened in 1989 and provides the primary operational link for activities between ADB and the government, the private sector, civil society stakeholders, and development partners. The resident mission engages in policy dialogue, country partnership strategy development and programming, and portfolio management, while also acting as a knowledge base on development issues in Pakistan.
The Pakistan government agency handling ADB affairs is the Economic Affairs Division (Ministry of Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization).
