ADB’s partnership with Uzbekistan supports the country’s reforms toward a green and inclusive economy.
Uzbekistan will host ADB's 59th Annual Meeting on 3 to 6 May 2026. The meeting will be held in the historic city of Samarkand, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world.
ADB President Masato Kanda met with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to reaffirm the strength of ADB’s partnership with the Republic of Uzbekistan and to commemorate 30 years of development cooperation.
ADB, together with ACWA Power Company, Sumitomo Corporation, Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc., and Shikoku Electric Power Co. Inc., has signed a landmark financing package to build two utility-scale solar power plants with battery energy storage systems in Uzbekistan.
The Green Climate Fund has approved $250 million for Glaciers to Farms—a flagship adaptation program led by ADB to build resilient water and agriculture systems for vulnerable communities in glacier-dependent regions of Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Pakistan.
ADB is one of Uzbekistan’s largest development partners, having committed over $5.41 billion in financing in the last 5 years. Guided by the country partnership strategy for 2024–2028, ADB is working closely with the Government of Uzbekistan and other stakeholders to facilitate the country’s transition to a green economy, support private sector development and competitiveness, and promote investments in human capital.
To date, ADB has committed 267 public sector loans, grants, guarantees, and technical assistance totaling $13.4 billion to Uzbekistan.

The Uzbekistan Resident Mission (URM), located in Tashkent, was formally opened in 1998. URM's primary responsibilities include:
URM applies the advantage of its in-country presence to assist missions from headquarters in periodic country portfolio and program review activities and to provide mission follow-up support. It can assist interested parties by providing information on ADB and its activities in general and in Uzbekistan. URM's resources are of interest particularly to stakeholders in ADB-supported projects in Uzbekistan.
