Common Sense employees enjoy a rich Health & Welfare Benefits package. If you're a full-time employee—regularly scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week—you're eligible once you're hired. Most benefits start the first of the month following your hire date.

Advocacy Intern

Washington, DC

Reports to: Senior Counsel, Tech Policy

Salary: $25/hr 

We are seeking an Advocacy Intern to support our Advocacy team and learn about the ins and outs of federal and state technology policy and advocacy strategy on behalf of American kids and teens. As an intern, you will be expected to hit the ground running on a variety of activities. For example, an intern will: conduct research related to federal and state policy in our priority areas (broadband, data privacy, cybersecurity, platform accountability, artificial intelligence, and mental health); support our digital grassroots mobilization campaign; help write memos, blog posts, and emails; assist with advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill; and other activities.

AI Engineering Intern

San Francisco, CA

Reports to: Principal Engineer and Development Manager, Education

Salary: $25/hr 

The intern will work closely with the Product, Design, and Engineering teams to prototype AI-powered tools and explore scalable ways of building interactive experiences for students. You will build multiple prototypes and create reusable frameworks that allow multiple interactive experiences to be developed efficiently and responsibly. The intern will work closely with cross-functional teammates to build, test, and iterate on early-stage AI solutions, with opportunities to explore AI-assisted workflows, rapid prototyping, and responsible AI design. You will integrate AI features through frontier model APIs, emerging agentic frameworks, and beyond.

The Brand Designer will be the operational engine of our Brand team, leading campaign delivery and design execution with precision and excellence. We are seeking a Director of Youth AI Research to join our team and sit at the vital intersection of data, policy, and public narrative. Five years ago, Common Sense Media launched its first international office in the UK, and we’ve since established a robust advocacy footprint in the EU and Australia. We are seeking a Europe Director to serve as Common Sense Media’s lead ambassador and advocacy representative in the EU. Common Sense is a nonprofit organization giving kids, families, and schools the tools to make informed choices about media and technology. Families know us for our independent, age-based reviews of movies, TV shows, books, games, podcasts and apps. Educators use our free curriculum and edtech reviews to plan lessons and integrate technology into their teaching practice. At our core, we are a children's advocacy group. We draw on original research, industry expertise, and community partnerships to advocate for laws and policies that help kids thrive.
