Eagle County Building Resolution Amended 10.28.25
The Building Department ensures construction of safe structures for the enjoyment of citizens and visitors in unincorporated Eagle County. Staff implements construction codes through Permits which go through plan review and inspections.
The Building Department is open Mon - Fri. 8a-5p to walk-ins. Inspections are available Mon-Fri. El Jebel inspections are available Mon. and Thurs. (subject to change based on holiday closures)
Inspections must be scheduled before 4:00 pm the day before the requested inspection.
Daily Inspection Times- are posted by 8:00 am. The Eagle County inspector's provide a 1 hour window for inspection. Please see link below for ECG Holiday Closures for 2026

Sub Permits applied for through the portal have a 5 business days review time.

UPDATE-Effective immediately, all low voltage DC residential fire alarm systems will be under the jurisdiction of the fire protection districts.

**Any high voltage AC residential fire alarm systems will be
submitted to Eagle County as an Electrical permit application online and shall meet the requirements of NFPA/NEC 70, NFPA 72, and the 2021 IRC. ** For questions regarding fire alarm systems, please contact Gail Baker at 970-328-3554 or send an email to gail.baker@eaglecounty.us.

- Pool/Spa Residential or Commercial - 7 weeks or Longer
- New commercial building - 7 weeks or longer
- Commercial tenant finish - 5 weeks or longer
- Small residential remodel/renovation - 5 weeks or longer
- Manufactured Home in existing mobile home parks - 4 weeks or longer
MECH/PLUM/ELEC/FRAL/FRPL/ROOF/WIND have a 5 to 7 business day estimated review time dependent on scope of work & submittal requirements
Contractor's Licensing:
- Electrical and Plumbing licenses verified through the State of Colorado (DORA)
When is a permit required?
A building permit is required when an owner or authorized agent intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure. Demolition is included in RESIDENTIAL and/or COMMERCIAL permits unless a building is not going back in its place.
- Separate permits for plumbing, mechanical, fireplace, electrical, solar, pool & spa, Fire Alarm (residential buildings), Roof, and Windows are required when applicable. Apply through online portal.
- Normal building maintenance does not require a building permit in most instances.
- Roof repairs and replacements: YES
- Need Class A fire rated materials for the assembly.
- Boiler replacements/ heat pump installations: YES
