❤️ Having basic first aid knowledge can save a life. This week, Mission Members had the opportunity to participate in a Basic Life Support (BLS) training delivered by the dedicated, BLS-certified instructors of our Medical Team. The session was part of our continuous effort to provide basic lifesaving skills and ensure that, when faced with an emergency, our colleagues have the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to respond promptly and effectively. Through a dynamic programme combining clear instruction, live demonstrations, and hands-on practice, participants learned how to: ✔️ Assess and manage a collapsed person ✔️ Deliver high-quality chest compressions and rescue breaths ✔️ Safely and effectively operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) ✔️ Perform abdominal thrusts (Heimlich manoeuvre) in cases of choking ✔️ Work as a coordinated team while maintaining scene safety A big thank you to our Medical Team for delivering such an engaging, practical, and impactful training. #TeamDevelopment #WorkplaceSafety #BasicLifeSupport #CPRTraining #AED #StaffWellbeing

On 11 February, the EULEX Correctional Unit facilitated the final workshop for Kosovo Correctional Service’s (KCS) staff members to finalize the internal KCS Guideline for the Implementation of Sentence Plans and its review template. Individual, needs-based sentence plans - tailored to each prisoner and regularly reviewed - are essential for preventing re-offending and promoting rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society. Through this initiative, EULEX and KCS reaffirm their shared commitment to strengthening rehabilitation-focused practices within Kosovo’s correctional institutions.

🩸 EULEX continues its blood donation tradition On 10 February, EULEX, in partnership with the National Blood Transfusion Centre of Kosovo, organised its 18th Blood Donation Campaign. More than 40 local and international Mission Members, including Deputy Head of Mission Emily Rakhorst, volunteered to donate blood, contributing directly to Kosovo’s healthcare system: a stable blood supply is indeed essential for hospitals responding to emergencies and supporting patients requiring ongoing treatment. We remain committed to solidarity, community support, and initiatives that make a difference for all communities in Kosovo.

#EULEX Head of Mission Giovanni Pietro Barbano met today with the President of the Constitutional Court, Nexhmi Rexhepi, and commented on X: “Very positive exchange with Kosovo’s Constitutional Court President, Judge Nexhmi Rexhepi. I conveyed my unwavering support for the Court’s essential role in upholding the rule of law, protecting & advancing constitutional democracy, and ensuring justice for all in Kosovo. As the ultimate interpreter of the Constitution and guarantor of legal compliance, the Court is indispensable in navigating emerging institutional challenges, thereby strengthening the maturity and enduring resilience of Kosovo’s justice system and democratic framework.”

🎯 Standing ready to respond! On 4 February, members from EULEX FPU and NATO-led mission KFOR units conducted a theoretical and practical 🚁 Air MEDEVAC (medical evacuation) training exercise at Camp Bondsteel, to strengthen coordination and enhance operational readiness in case of real-world emergencies.

Kosovo legislative framework and international instruments guarantee two fundamental, interconnected rights: the right of access to public documents and the right to the protection of personal data.   To improve the capacities of Kosovo justice institutions to respect, protect and fulfil these rights through an accountable and balanced approach, EULEX facilitated today a workshop for approximately 40 participants from various Kosovo Rule of Law institutions delivered by the Kosovo Information and Privacy Agency. #DataProtectionDay2026
