As winter tightens its grip, Russia is once again attempting to freeze Ukraine into submission by targeting vital civilian energy infrastructure.     In Kyiv 🇺🇦 today, President von der Leyen demonstrated that our commitment remains as unshaken by Russian terror as the Ukrainian people.      To stabilise the energy system, we've launched a €920 million ‘Repair, Rebuild, Restart’ plan, adding to the 11,000 generators already delivered.     And we are providing €100 million for emergency energy support to help Ukraine through this winter     We are helping Ukraine resist until peace is restored on Ukraine’s terms.      #StandWithUkraine 

Four years together. Unbroken and unwavering.    By standing with Ukraine against Russia’s unprovoked war, the EU secures the front lines of our shared freedom and independence. Our actions speak louder:     🟡 Financial backbone, mobilising €194.9 billion in overall support, with a new €90 billion loan secured for 2026–2027.     🔵 Restoring lifeblood, rebuilding schools and hospitals, delivering 1.5 million textbooks, and donating 380+ buses.     🟡 Healing heroes, supporting medical evacuations and providing veterans with world-class bionic prosthetics and rehabilitation.     🔵 Energy security, relocating entire power plants and delivering 11278 generators to keep the lights on.      🟡 Advancing EU accession negotiations to bring Ukraine home to the European family.     This is about our shared future.     Ukraine is Europe. Europe is Ukraine.   Unbroken. Unstoppable. 

Ukraine’s fight is our fight.     Tonight, the colours of Ukraine on our headquarters stand as a reminder of the courage and resilience of its people, and the enduring pain of a war that continues, after four years.       Not only as a symbol of solidarity, but as a tribute to those who have lost their lives, and a call to redouble our efforts towards a just and lasting peace.     Europe's shared values, strength, and commitment will never waver.     We #StandWithUkraine

The unyielding spirit of a nation that has for four years been fighting full-scale unprovoked violence and destruction.      The flag we raise today is not only a testament of Ukraine’s fight for freedom and self-determination, it is also a symbol of a Europe that stands united in the face of aggression.      Ukraine’s cause is the cause of just peace on our whole continent. With all our gratitude and determination, together, we #StandWithUkraine. 

As the #MilanoCortina2026 Winter Olympic Games conclude, we thank all those who contributed to their success.   These Winter Olympic Games have showcased and given global recognition to extraordinary athletic excellence, discipline, and respect — values that sport embodies in Europe and beyond. They have also highlighted our shared commitment to inclusion, diversity and sustainability. Europe is proud to have hosted this global celebration of talent, tenacity and teamwork. The flame may have gone out, but the spirit of unity shines on across Europe and beyond.

The EU is home to:  🌍 24 official languages  🎉 60 regional or minority languages spoken by 40 million people     And, over half of Europeans are proficient in a second language!
