As AI governance moves towards operational deployment, venture capital investment is concentrating more and more in AI firms. The India AI Impact Summit 2026 convened at a moment of accelerated AI deployment. Governments and industry leaders are moving beyond experimentation toward integrating advanced AI systems across strategic sectors, consumer services and public administration. In this newsletter, revisit OECDâGPAI engagement at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, including: ð¹ New data on AI venture capital investments ð¹ Scenario-based foresight on AI trajectories through 2030 ð¹ Trends in AI incidents and hazards reported by the media ð¹ The OECD.AI Index technical paper ð¹ Open source tools for trustworthy AI ð¹ AI for resilient and inclusive food systems ð¥ð²ð®ð± ððµð² ð³ðð¹ð¹ ð»ð²ððð¹ð²ððð²ð¿ ð¯ð²ð¹ð¼ð. #TrustworthyAI #AIpolicy #OECD #VentureCapital #AIInvestment #OECDAI

About us
Visit our blog, the AI Wonk: https://oecd.ai/wonk/ The OECD AI Policy Observatory is a tool at the disposal of governments and businesses that they can use to implement the first intergovernmental standard on AI: the OECD AI Principles. The OECD AI Principles focus on how governments and other actors can shape a human-centric approach to trustworthy AI. The Observatory includes a blog for its group of international AI experts (ONE AI) to discuss issues related to defining AI and how to implement the OECD Principles. OECD countries adopted the standards in May 2019, along with a range of partner economies. The OECD AI Principles provided the basis for the G20 AI Principles endorsed by Leaders in June 2019. OECD.AI combines resources from across the OECD, its partners and all stakeholder groups. OECD.AI facilitates dialogue between stakeholders while providing multidisciplinary, evidence-based policy analysis in the areas where AI has the most impact. As an inclusive platform for public policy on AI â the OECD AI Policy Observatory is oriented around three core attributes: Multidisciplinarity The Observatory works with policy communities across and beyond the OECD â from the digital economy and science and technology policy, to employment, health, consumer protection, education and transport policy â to consider the opportunities and challenges posed by current and future AI developments in a coherent, holistic manner. Evidence-based analysis The Observatory provides a centre for the collection and sharing of evidence on AI, leveraging the OECDâs reputation for measurement methodologies and evidence-based analysis. Global multi-stakeholder partnerships The Observatory engages governments and a wide spectrum of stakeholders â including partners from the technical community, the private sector, academia, civil society and other international organisations â and provides a hub for dialogue and collaboration.

The 2026 Global Partnership on AI (#GPAI) Council Meeting in New Delhi marked an important step forward in strengthening international co-operation on human-centric and trustworthy #AI.  Under the leadership of our co-chairs, Josephine Teo of Singapore and Kyunghoon Bae of Korea, members of GPAI reaffirmed their commitment to advancing AI that supports inclusive growth, innovation, safety and democratic values.  The Partnership also warmly welcomed Malta and Saudi Arabia as new GPAI members. Their participation strengthens our collective capacity to shape AI policies that are globally relevant and practically grounded. With thanks to India and the organisers of the #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026 for hosting this ministerial meeting and for fostering constructive dialogue at a pivotal moment for AI governance.  At the #OECD, we remain committed to supporting governments with evidence-based analysis and international standards to ensure AI works for people and societies.  Read the full Co-Chairsâ Summary Statement â link in the comments.  #OECDAIÂ

What does meaningful progress on AI standards actually look like? The preliminary agenda for the AI Standards Hub Global Summit (16â17 March 2026) is now available. The agenda highlights the growing importance of international cooperation on AI measurement, standards and assurance. As a partner in the Summit, the #OECD is contributing to discussions on how standards can be translated from high-level principles into practical implementation. Over two days in Glasgow and online, participants will examine: ⢠How AI standards and assurance mechanisms can strengthen trust in AI systems ⢠Emerging approaches to measurement and conformity assessment ⢠Ways to improve international coordination across governments, industry and standards bodies For the OECD, this work directly connects to the implementation of the #OECDAIPrinciples and to our broader efforts to support evidence-based AI governance. If you are working on #AIPolicy, technical standards, or AI assurance, the agenda offers a useful overview of where global discussions are heading. ð ð¦ð²ð² ððµð² ð³ðð¹ð¹ ð½ð¿ð¼ð´ð¿ð®ðºðºð² ð®ð»ð± ð¿ð²ð´ð¶ððð²ð¿ ðð¶ð® ððµð² ð¹ð¶ð»ð¸ ð¶ð» ððµð² ð°ð¼ðºðºð²ð»ðð. The OECD has just published a new report outlining four plausible AI capability scenarios through 2030, intended to help governments and institutions think rigorously about uncertainty rather than make single predictions. The four scenarios for progress in AI are as follows: 1ï¸â£ ð¦ðð®ð¹ð¹ð â Progress in AI capability largely stops. Technical, economic or data constraints stall advances, and we see only incremental improvements in narrow applications. 2ï¸â£ ð¦ð¹ð¼ðð â AI continues to improve, but the rate of advancement eases meaningfully relative to recent years. Breakthroughs become harder to achieve, and overall capability growth flattens. 3ï¸â£ ðð¼ð»ðð¶ð»ðð²ð â The recent pace of capability gains broadly holds. In this scenario, AI systems routinely perform well-scoped software engineering and other specialised tasks that currently take humans days to complete. 4ï¸â£ ðð°ð°ð²ð¹ð²ð¿ð®ðð²ð â Progress picks up speed, potentially because AI systems increasingly assist in their own development. This could lead to faster improvements across many domains and capabilities, rivalling or exceeding human performance. These structured scenarios are designed to support strategic preparedness across diverse possible futures. They also served as a core analytical input to the International AI Safety Report 2026, chaired by Yoshua Bengio, helping frame discussions on emerging risks at the frontier of AI capabilities. As Prof. Bengio has noted: âð ð¸ðªð´ð¦ ð´ðµð³ð¢ðµð¦ð¨ðº, ð¸ð©ð¦ðµð©ð¦ð³ ðºð°ð¶'ð³ð¦ ðªð¯ ð¨ð°ð·ð¦ð³ð¯ð®ð¦ð¯ðµ ð°ð³ ðªð¯ ð£ð¶ð´ðªð¯ð¦ð´ð´, ðªð´ ðµð° ð±ð³ð¦ð±ð¢ð³ð¦ ð§ð°ð³ ð¢ðð ðµð©ð¦ ð±ðð¢ð¶ð´ðªð£ðð¦ ð´ð¤ð¦ð¯ð¢ð³ðªð°ð´.â That means building governance frameworks that are robust, adaptive and ready for diverse outcomes. ð ð¥ð²ð®ð± ððµð² ð¢ððð ð¿ð²ð½ð¼ð¿ð to explore the scenarios in depth â ð link in the comments below. ð¬ ðªðµð¶ð°ðµ ðð°ð²ð»ð®ð¿ð¶ð¼ ððµð¼ðð¹ð± ð½ð¼ð¹ð¶ð°ððºð®ð¸ð²ð¿ð ð½ð¿ð¶ð¼ð¿ð¶ðð¶ðð² ð½ð¿ð²ð½ð®ð¿ð¶ð»ð´ ð³ð¼ð¿ ðð¼ð±ð®ð?
